Member of Parliament’s Christmas Message
As I walk through the halls of splendor and view the magnificence
of the buildings of Parliament Hill, I realize that the truly
important things of life are not in buildings or in halls or in
places of honour.
Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like the beauty
of a simple lily of the field. Some things are just intrinsically
beautiful. They are not complex, but simple and yet profound.
Each of us like the lily are wonderfully and marvelously made.
As we fellowship with our family
and friends and as we share triumphs, trials and losses during
the Christmas season we partake in something intrinsically beautiful.
Yet it is more then that. It is
the hope of peace in the midst of all that is around us. The great
prophet Isaiah capsulized it in a simple, yet profound statement
when he said “ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son
is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his
name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The
Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
My wife Sally and I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New
Year.
