Komarnicki comments on not being re-appointed as Parliamentary Secretary

Estevan, SK – May 30, 2011.  For immediate release:  The Prime Minister made some changes to the appointments of Parliamentary Secretaries that allowed some new faces and newly elected MP’s to experience being part of the daily functioning of Government.

“This is part of a new reality,”said Komarnicki, “that comes from electing more MP’s from new ridings to form a majority government.

“Some of us, myself included, had the position during some challenging years in minority government.  I have had the position of Labour Critic in 2004, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration in 2006 and to the Ministers of Human Resources and Skills Development and to Labour in 2008 to 2011.  These positions have provided me a most extraordinary experience.

“Although not being re-appointed is a bit bruising to the ego it is also liberating in that it frees me from the responsibilities that go with the position.

“I look forward to spending more time with constituent issues and in pursuing such new role in the majority government as is assigned to me.

“I must say,” concluded Komarnicki, “that I am looking forward to the opportunity and experience of a majority government.”
