Ed Komarnicki Elected Chair of the Human Resources and Skills Committee

Ottawa, ON (June 23, 2011) — Ed Komarnicki, Member of Parliament for Souris-Moose Mountain, comments on his election as Chair of the Standing Committee of Human Resources and Skills Development in the House of Commons on Tuesday, June 21, 2011.

“I am most pleased to be selected and assigned the duties of Chair of the Human Resources and Skills Development Committee,” said Komarnicki. “It is a position I have not yet experienced during my years on the Hill and so I am looking forward to this new dimension in my political career.”

There are 12 members on the committee and given that we have a majority Conservative government, we also have a majority on the committee.

“Although we did meet before the session concluded and set the procedural rules in place, we did not deal with substantive matters,” said Komarnicki. “The committee will deal with Government legislation, Private Member’s Bills and other matters within the jurisdiction of the committee once the session resumes in the fall.”

“I am ready for the challenge and look forward to a lively fall session when we return,” concluded Komarnicki.
