ECONOMIC ACTION PLAN CONTINUES TO CREATE JOBS
AND ECONOMIC GROWTH FOR CANADIANS
Harper Government Celebrates Significant Progress Made on Spectra Place,
Estevan’s Civic Events Centre and the Southeast Regional College Energy Training Institute
(Estevan, SK), Thursday, February 24, 2011 – Jobs and economic growth continue to be created by Canada’s Economic Action Plan announced Ed Komarnicki, Member of Parliament for Souris-Moose Mountain. Today Ed Komarnicki, MP, toured the construction site at Spectra Place and the Energy Training Institute in Estevan, SK. It is an opportunity to highlight the significant progress made to date at each facility and to acknowledge the impact of government programs on the community and the economy.
“Our government’s top priority is the economy, which is why we are continuing to implement Canada’s Economic Action Plan,” said Ed Komarnicki, MP. “These projects funded under the Building Canada and Knowledge Infrastructure programs have not only created local jobs and economic growth, but will also improve the lives of residents in the area so that Canadian families continue to prosper for years to come.”
The Harper Government is demonstrating the job creation and benefits of Canada’s Economic Action Plan. MP Ed Komarnicki’s visit to Spectra Place and the Energy Training Institute is just one of many events happening across the country today.
The Harper government is committed to stimulating the economy through the creation of jobs. Canada’s Economic Action Plan continues to create jobs and economic growth with more than 26,000 job-creating projects underway or completed from coast to coast to coast.
The results are clear: Since July 2009 Canada’s economy has created over 460,000 new jobs and the economy has grown for five straight quarters.
“The economic recovery is still fragile,” said Ed Komarnicki, MP. “That is why we must stay on track and continue to focus on the economy.”
Canada’s Economic Action Plan provides close to $16 billion to modernize a broad range of infrastructure including roads, bridges, parks, sewer and water treatment facilities, including projects like Spectra Place and the Energy Training Institute, right here in Estevan, Saskatchewan.
