Ed Komarnicki Wishes the Town of Lampman a Happy 100th Birthday
Lampman, SK (July 31, 2009) – Ed Komarnicki, Member of Parliament for Souris-Moose Mountain and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development and to the Minister of Labour, is pleased to wish the Town of Lampman a happy 100th birthday as it hosts its Homecoming Celebration this weekend.
“Celebrating 100 years is a remarkable community achievement,” said Komarnicki. “This homecoming weekend is a great opportunity to bring friends, neighbors, family and visitors alike together to celebrate the Town of Lampman’s rich and diverse culture and heritage. I am looking forward to taking in some of this weekend’s festivities.”
The Government of Canada is proud to support Lampman’s Homecoming. The Lampman Homecoming Committee received $11,000 through the Government’s Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program to help them host this heritage celebration which is taking place from July 31- August 3, 2009.
“I am extremely pleased that our Government provided an important contribution to the Lampman Homecoming Committee to help them organize this weekend,” said Komarnicki. “I also want to recognize and applaud the efforts of all of the organizers and volunteers who have dedicated their time to make this event a great success. While we gather together to celebrate 100 years of Lampman’s history this weekend, let us also celebrate the bright future that lies ahead for the community.”
The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and historic anniversaries throughout Canada this year.
