It's the volunteers that make the United Way such a great success year after year. A big thanks goes out to all who offered their time.

The Estevan & District Pro-life Association hosted a fund-raising banquet this fall. It was encouraging to see such a large turnout of supporters. The least of the little ones, including the life of the unborn is precious in His sight.

International Peace Pole Initiative at St. Michael's Junior High School in Weyburn.

Ed attended a supper honouring Bruce Ward, Fire Chief of Portal, for his 40 years of service with the Portal International Fire Department and 35 years of service with the Portal Ambulance service. With Bruce is his wife, Therese, his daughter, Crystal, and his mother, Dorothy Kay.

Every year around Christmas, we find the Salvation Army traditional red kettles set up in our communities. They capture the integral meaning of the
Christmas season –giving, sharing and caring.


Opening Ceremonies of the Athletes in Action (AIA) Carson Cup, Midget “AA” Hockey Tournament. I dropped the puck during the opening ceremonies of the game between the Estevan Black Max Bruins and the Kazakhstan Torpedoes. It was an honour to see an international team play in a local tournament. A special thanks goes to Athletes in Action for helping make such an event possible.


St. Michael’s Junior High School in Weyburn participated in the International Peace Pole Initiative, a standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth. The pole in Weyburn bears the message, “May peace prevail on earth” in the English, Ukrainian, Cree and Nakota Languages.
