heat energy unit that generates enough electricity to power
5,000 homes. |

June 4 –
As Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Citizenship
& Immigration, Ed Komarnicki, M.P, visited Halton Regional
Police Headquarters in Oakville, ON to congratulate 7 newcomers
who went through the Enhanced Language Training for Emergency
Services program. These graduates were former emergency
services staff in their home country.

May 1 – 5th Annual National Holocaust Remembrance
Day ceremony that was held on Parliament Hill. Holocaust
survivors came from all over Canada to lay wreaths, each
teamed with a Member of Parliament. Ed is pictured here
with holocaust survivors accompanied by their family members.

Apr 29 – Chelsea Allan (Weyburn) and Amanda Olsen
(Estevan) visited the Ottawa office, while they participated
with the NCC: Adventures in Citizenship group. It is an
annual event that provides a selected group of young Canadians
to gain a better understanding of our country through meetings
with political leaders and others to learn about the privileges
and responsibilities of citizenship.

April 18 –
Spencer Warriner, a Grade 8 Alameda student represented
southern Saskatchewan at the national Canwest CanSpell Spelling
Bee held in Ottawa. In May, he competed with 288 others
from Canada, the U.S and other countries in the Scripps
Spelling Bee held in Washington, D.C.

April 11 –Spencer McKnight, Ed’s second cousin,
visited Ed’s Ottawa office, while he was in Ottawa
with the Encounters with Canada group. An excellent program
where students from across Canada learn more about our parliamentary
system. Ed took time to visit with Spencer and take some
photos as a memento of his visit.

As Committee member of Citizenship & Immigration, Ed
Komarnicki, M.P attended Committee hearings across Canada.
The Committee held hearings in Vancouver, Edmonton, Moose
Jaw, Winnipeg, Waterloo, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City,
Toronto, Halifax, Fredericton, and St. Johns.

March 24 – Prime Minister,
Stephen Harper and Minister of Natural Resources Gary
Lunn visit Estevan to announce the government’s
financial support in a major commercial-scale carbon capture
storage project at the Boundary Dam Power Station.

Feb 29 – Ed Komarnicki, M.P. with constituent Barry
George Kessler, M.B., who resides in Pangman, taken at the
Governor General’s residence in Ottawa. Mr. Kessler
was presented with a Medal of Bravery for his heroic actions
on August 30th, 2004 when he rescued a farmer and neighbour
from a burning tractor.

March 7, 2008, Vancouver BC - Ed Komarnicki,
M.P. on behalf of the Minister of Citizenship & Immigration,
welcoming the arrival of the First Stateless Vietnamese
who have been living in the Phillipines without status
for more than 30 years.
