  July 12 2010 Government to Do Away with Mandatory Long-Form Surveys for Census 2011 Estevan (July 12, 2010) – Statistics Canada will be making changes to the way it conducts the 2011 Census next year as mandatory long-form census surveys will be replaced with a voluntary National Household Survey. The change is being implemented to limit the intrusiveness of government activities while still ensuring a sufficient collection of data.

  July 8 2010 Prime Minister Stephen Harper Tours Flooded Farmland Following $450 Million Acreage Payment Announcement Estevan (July 8, 2010) –Prairie farmers and producers hard hit with excessive moisture and flooding this growing season will receive some extra help from federal and provincial governments. The Governments of Canada, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba, are making up to $450 million available through the AgriRecovery Program. Producers will be able to receive a $30 per acre direct payment through the program to help protect, rehabilitate and manage affected cropland. This will represent the largest one time provincial agriculture disaster response in Saskatchewan’s history.
